Australia - Perth to Broome
Welcome to Australia! Was fuer ein Kulturschock!

We can recommend the 'Hotel Jackson'! Chelsey, Jacko and Rudy, it was fabulous to meet and stay with you guys! We had a brilliant time! Thanks so much!!!! We miss you both, Rudy... and Australian Idol!

Rudy!!!!! Our absolute favorite!!!!
Museum visits ('wisits') like the above trip to the megamouth shark, displayed at the Western Australian Museum, were not the only cultural activities we enjoyed in Perth, of course... Here on a wine tasting tour through the Swan Valley.Wir koennen Houghton Verdelho Late Harvest sehr empfehlen!

After 3 fabulous days in Perth, we moved Northwards to the Kalbarri National Park. Absolutely stunning coast lines and much higher temperatures awaited us!

After such long hours in the Greyhound bus, renting mountain bikes was a real pleasure!!

Beautiful beaches - again - in Denham/Monkey Mia, which is in the World Heritage Area of Shark Bay...

So beginnen unsere Tage in Australien!!
Ice Coffees for breakfast ('Lite', of course...) and the everyday travel budget control - that's how we start our days here in Australia - well, at least sometimes...

Spiders on a trip into the National Park in the Shark Bay Area - apparently, this is one of the few not poisonous...
Some of the last still existing Stromatolites - the ones of Shark Bay - which are the reason for it to become a World Heritage Area - 3.5bn years old and the main reason for the existence of life on Earth as the Stromatolites were responsible for the first production of oxygen...
Close-up of the Stromatolites...

Nattie on Shell Beach: she started playing with the shells as if being a small girl again... ;-)

The dolphins of Monkey Mia - every day between 8am and 1pm, several dolphins come into Shark bay to get fed up to 3 times, all on their own and apparently since the early 1960ies... - Fascinating!!

Moneky Mia - after the dolphin feeding

The beach in Exmouth, where we enjoyed beautiful diving - though freezing cold..., we saw our first manta ray under water, gracefully flying past us, the tip of his huge wings nearly touching us!!!

The lighthouse in the North of Exmouth - our destination on a half-day scooter trip to explore the area around Exmouth.

We saw masses of humpback whales on each dive trip - unfortunately, none of them was jumping out of the water close to the boat, but waving with their huge fins, that's what they did.

After this nice and relaxing week diving in Exmouth, we were again on the road further up North to Broome, again on a Greyhound bus, stopping only shortly to get some food... 18 hours, one night and one full day, quite exhausting!!

Cable Beach in Broome - voted to be one of the World's most beautiful beaches - live webcam
Das aelteste Open-Air Kino in Australien steht in Broome - seit 1916! Und wir mitten drin mit den "Pirates of the Carribean - Dead Man's Chest"

Hey Luca!!! How are you?? Can't believe these two are in my hometown without me - but they are having the BEST time. Marco has clearly been on the salad (ha!) but I think my brother in law fed him a few bourbons to help get the double chin back!
Nattie taught me the only German I need... Will that do me ok in Switzerland?
Bussi bussi,
Megan
